Wooden Bodhi seeds have been used in Buddhist prayer practices ever since the Buddha attained enlightenment under a Bodhi fig tree. Modern day Bodhi seeds are said to come from ancestors of that original fig tree.

A brass cross with three layers is connected horizontally between the Buddhist prayer beads. A small, plain Latin cross and a slightly bigger French fleur de lis cross are layered on top of a larger eight-pointed Maltese cross for spiritual protection times three. The brass crosses are oxidized to give them a medieval, religious relic look.
