The AKOMA necklace pendant, based on the African Adinkra, is a symbol of the Heart, Love and Patience.

Adinkra are ancient African visual symbols of objects that encapsulate messages conveying traditional wisdom and aspects of life. Adinkra, originally created by the Akan of Ghana and the Gyaman of Cote d'Ivoire in West Africa, represent concepts or aphorisms. Adinkra are used extensively in fabrics and pottery and are incorporated into walls and other architectural features. Adinkra symbols appear on some traditional akan gold weights.

The symbols have a decorative function but also represent objects that encapsulate evocative messages that convey traditional wisdom or observations and truths of life or the environment. There are many different symbols with distinct meanings, often linked with proverbs. The AKOMA Adinkra is a symbol of the Heart, Love, and Patience.

The Akoma necklace pendant is hand polished and made of real silver over pewter with colored resin and an invisible hypoallergenic coating to protect the finish. Approximate size including the loop is 1 5/8 by 3/4 inches. Color is real silver. Tribal Hollywood offers a selection of designer style leather necklaces and silver chains to complete your necklace.
